Our Story

Jack and Jenna’s story begins over 10 years ago. They met traveling to and from rehearsals for the Cadets, a World Class Drum Corps- think of it as a professional marching band. They spent several weekends of the winter and two seasons of Summer as teammates, competing with other organizations from across the country. The two college kids had no idea, at the time, that their camaraderie and friendship would later blossom into a deep love for one another after reconnecting almost ten years later in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Jenna was a News Reporter for Cincinnati’s Local 12, when Jack, knowing he’d be passing through Cincinnati for a brief work trip, “slid into her DMs”. Jack, a band director in Tennessee at the time, acted on this opportunity while in parking lot of a Home Depot having just bought a 100 quart crawfish pot and trying to justify his purchase to himself, enduring buyers remorse to the tune of a starting teacher’s salary. However, Jenna’s accepting of Jack’s date offer forecasted brighter days ahead.

After the brief trip to Cincinnati, Jack’s visits did not end. Jack would go to Cincinnati on many weekends, and Jenna in turn would visit Jack in Murfreesboro. Yet, Jenna never traveled alone, always accompanied by her 6 pound companion, Oakley. Initially, Jack was reluctant to be a stepfather to a dog of such high pitch, but slowly, the two animals bonded. Today, Oakley is attached to Jack at the hip.

The beginning of the end of the long-distance relationship started when Jack, after a rigorous audition process, became a member of The West Point Hellcats. Winning the position marked the end of an extremely long and difficult process for Jack, and Jenna’s support and love for Jack during that time was paramount. Only months after, Jack would rely on Jenna’s heart again.

During the Summer of 2023, Jack moved to Fort Jackson, South Carolina for three months of Basic Combat Training while Jenna, having seized a job as the Social Media Director at Jaymark Jewelers in Cold Spring, New York, would move by herself to set up their new rally point.

Jack returned from BCT in early August and immediately began work at West Point. At the beginning of the New Year, just when he didn’t think his dream job could be any more ideal, Jenna won the job as the Public Affairs Officer for the U.S. Army Garrison at West Point.

Today, the couple has spent the better part of 2024 no further than a parking lot away- a reward that was earned years before in the calendar meetings, long drives, rushed weekend trips and “stay-cation” holidays.

Jenna and Jack continue to dream. They plan to create a beautiful life around themselves; a life with children for loving, a house for hosting family and friends, and of course, a yard for frolicking with Oakley.
